Kürøishi is a hardcore band from Oulu, Finland, blending D-beat, melodic crust and Japanese-inspired intensity into a sound that is both familiar and distinctly their own. From their debut Poverty.Ignorance.Greed.Slavery (2017) through Sound the Alarm to Käärme sisälläsi, myrkyttää maailmani and their fourth full-length Egocide of the Warmad, the band has continued to build on their foundation with steady focus while keeping the core of their sound intact.
Their music has been compared to Scandinavian heavyweights and the Burning Spirits tradition, yet the band’s identity is shaped just as much by their own background. Twin-guitar interplay, Kai Jaakkola’s deep vocal tone and a tight rhythmic drive have become defining elements. The long collaboration with Japanese artist Akihiko “Sugi” Sugimoto gives the band a visual identity that many listeners now recognise instantly.
Kürøishi is also known as a forceful live band. Their shows rely on energy, focus and a constant forward push. As the group approaches its tenth anniversary next year, it will be interesting to see where this path leads and what the next chapter brings, together with Sonic Rites Booking Agency.
